Wakefield - High pile fabrics may be specialised, but their usefulness spans the whole spectrum of the textile and apparel industries, from fake fur clothing to technical and medical textiles.

High pile, or sliver knitting machines, can be described as single jersey circular knitting machines, that produce plain or patterned web fabric with the added facility of incorporating untwisted staple fibres. It is these staple fibres which form a pile surface effect on the technical back of the jersey structure. This surface effect can be in the form of overall fibres, tufts, and fibre loops and in various combinations.
