Albstadt - When it comes to circular knitted spacer fabrics and the evolving market for technical textiles, Germany's Mayer & Cie says that its application areas now include fashion, sportswear, medical textiles, automotive uses, home furnishings and mattress covers.

In terms of machines for these markets, the company offers several options, most notably the Technit D3, a machine design capable of 3D spacer fabrics as well as fine rib knitted fabrics for use in the home textile, automotive and medical sectors. According to Mayer & Cie, Technit D3, which was on display at last week's Techtextil exhibition, was the first circular knitting machine to knit rib fabrics using three threads on the cylinder side.
