Derbyshire - John Smedley, one of the oldest continuously operating knitwear manufacturers in the world, has outlined how its use of Shima Seiki's SDS-ONE APEX design system along with its bank of WHOLEGARMENT knitting machines, has enhanced its production of fine gauge knitwear.

Established in 1784, John Smedley was founded at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution and today still produces knitwear from its Lea Mills, Derbyshire factory.
