New investment boosts John Smedley growth

Derbyshire - UK-based luxury knitwear firm John Smedley, which has been investing heavily in Shima?s Seiki?s latest 15G SWG-173X machines for fine gauge WholeGarment production in recent years, is to extend its product range and establish an apprenticeship scheme following ?500,000 in funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial.

John Smedley is best known today for its high-class, fine gauge knitwear and is still one of the UK?s biggest knitwear firms, knitting around 430,000 garments per year with exports a crucial part of its business; it currently sells to more than 40 countries and is particularly strong in Asia.
