Dhaka ? Many of Bangladesh?s small and medium sized knitwear manufacturers industries are at risk of closure if yarn prices remain as high as they currently are.
The stark warning came from Fazlul Hoque, president of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), who said the high prices meant many small producers were struggling to compete on the international market. He also said that government intervention to regulate domestic yarn prices so that the export sector was not hampered, was urgently required.
