Milan - As Shima Seiki Italia, the subsidiary of Japanese flat knitting machine manufacturer Shima Seiki prepares for this week?s private exhibition, Mr. Sasamato, President of Shima Seiki Italia tells Knitting Trade Journal how both high-end fashion houses and yarn spinners are making use of the company?s SDS-ONE APEX3 3D design software.

Knitting Trade Journal caught up with Mr Sasamato at the company's Milan Headquaters where he explained that after missing two editions, it was important for the company to be back at the recent Pitti Filati exhibition. ?KnitClub is a good concept and we had a very satisfying number of customers, designers and students coming from Italy and from other foreign countries as Ukraine, Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Germany,? he said, adding that brands like Max Mara, Zegna, Hugo Boss and Fabiana Filippi were using the latest design software. Italian spinners such as Cariaggi, Tollegno and Millefili were also using the simulation technology.

?The market is undergoing serious difficulties but Italian knitting mills are very strong and the new year started better then the last one with the FW 14-15 production,? he said, suggesting that there were indications of a come back of production from China and Asian countries.
