Munich - Invista Apparel and Advanced Textiles has announced that new products featuring the company’s EcoMade Technology will be on show at the upcoming ISPO.

Scheduled for 3-6 February in Munich the company will showcase products such as Coolmax EcoMade fibre and Thermolite EcoMade fibre and insulation which are made from certified amounts of recycled resources such as plastic bottles, and offer the Active/Outdoor apparel industry a more sustainable alternative to virgin fibres.

Vision

According to Invista, EcoMade technology is a key part of the company’s all-encompassing sustainability vision, in which product sustainability is a critical component. The technology has been designed to give new life to recycled resources by transforming them into fibres through a controlled process. This means less waste is going into landfills, which appeals to millennials and environmentally-conscious consumers.

EcoMade technology is available for Lycra T400 and Lycra Dual Comfort Technologies, as well as for the Coolmax and Thermolite brand groups, which enables Invista customers to capitalize on each brand’s global awareness and reputation for high quality and performance to help drive sales downstream.

The first new product on show will be Thermolite T-Down, an EcoMade insulation which is a sustainable alternative to down feathers at a lower cost that is GRS Certified, made with recycled fibres, and offers key benefits over feather insulation. With its 500+ fill power, this insulation delivers lightweight warmth to cold weather outerwear, sleeping bags and accessories.

Also on show will be Lycra Dual Comfort technology which utilizes Lycra T400 EcoMade fibre to create fabrics combining outstanding stretch and cooling characteristics, ideally suited for performance tops.

Coolmax EcoMade technology, on the other hand, has been designed to keep the wearer cool, dry and comfortable by moving moisture away from the skin to the surface of the fabric where it evaporates, while Thermolite EcoMade technology delivers lightweight warmth to keep the wearer comfortable longer.

This makes them easy to adopt for performance fabrics in the active outdoor space.”

Invista has also announced that Lycra fibre Type 166L, primarily used in woven applications and produced at the company’s plants in China, Singapore, and Northern Ireland, has earned a Gold Level Material Health Certificate. The certificate is awarded by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute to products that meet the Material Health requirements of the Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard and is valid for two years.
