Almere - Following its successful summer editions, the Netherlands based Knitwear Lab is offering a new “crash course” on flat knitting and design.

The six-day program will offer an introduction to Stoll's renowned M1-Plus design software and will teaches participants how to work on the Stoll ADF and 530 HP machines.

The curriculum caters especially to designers and professionals who are interested in gaining extensive knowledge on designing, programming and manufacturing knitwear.

According to Knitwear Lab's Thijs Verhaar, the practice-oriented approach offered by the course will also allow participants to develop their first knitted swatches. "Special focus will be placed on (sustainable) fibres and yarns," Verhaar explained. "Moreover, you’ll get familiar with Adobe for knitters and you’ll learn how to develop a Tech Pack in order to communicate in-depth with your programmer or designer. Most importantly, you will have the great joy of knitting your own designs.

The Knitwear Lab is described as the leading knowledge centre for industrial knitwear in the Netherlands, running extensive research projects on the most innovative technical applications for knitwear for both the fashion and textile industry.

The Lab is located in Almere, 30 minutes from Amsterdam where it houses three Stoll flatbed knitting machines, among which is the Stoll-Multi Gauge 7.2 ADF BW16. "This technical ‘tour de force’ is capable of knitting the most innovative stitches and patterns,” Verhaar says.

The Industrial Knitwear Courses will take place from Monday 14 December to Saturday 19 December, 19 to 24 April 2021 and 5 to 10 July 2021. 12 to 17 July is an advanced course for all who already participated in previous courses. There are still a few spots available for all dates. The price will be €950,- (excluding VAT) for the 6-day course course. This includes all materials and 6 great lunches.
