mayerAlbstadt - Circular knitting machine builder Mayer & Cie has taken the first steps towards restructuring its business with the laying-off of 230 jobs from its German headquarters. Haydn Davis reports from Germany.

The company, which until this week employed 445 workers, began insolvency proceedings at the beginning of October and, despite the reduction of staff levels, is continuing to operate its manufacturing plant and meet the needs of its existing customers.
