Milan - The trend for increased sourcing levels in Africa looks set to continue with ACIMIT reporting increasing sales of Italian textile machinery in Ethiopia while at the same time strengthening links between Italian machinery manufacturers and the country?s textile companies.

Knitting Trade Journal reported in August that leading brands such as H&M were exploring knitwear sourcing options in Africa as it looks to supplement its production elsewhere. The Swedish retailer, which sources a large percentage of its garments in Bangladesh, is hopeful that counties such as Ethiopia will be in a position to supply its fast-growing number of global stores.

Now, ACIMIT has confirmed that its partnership with BCaD Consulting Management PLC, an Ethiopian consulting firm that will help promote Italian textile technology in Ethiopia, has become operative.
