Leicester - Monarch Knitting Machinery UK has launched a new, high speed circular knitting machine for the production of single jersey fabrics.

The OD7-M2XC-A3.2RE is a single jersey raceway machine for the production of stretch single jersey which, compared to its predecessor, the MXC-E3.2RE, is now able to run Lycra on tubular or open width at 45rpm, up from 37rpm.

With 84-136 feeds, OD7-M2XC-A3.2RE has a range of fabric potentials including single plain jersey, pique, inlay and spandex plating and is equipped with a number of new features aimed at improving efficiency and user friendliness. These include a new, lower positioned frame with more windows so that customers are able to get a clearer view of their fabric.

With the machine running at such high speeds - up to a speed factor of 1350 - Monarch has also added slits in the frame for ventilation with a further new feature being the addition of more reset buttons.

As Monarch's Matthew Brunton explains, if the technician is looking to re-set the machine following a yarn breakage or other stoppage, they have to walk around the machine to find the main control panel. Now, whichever gate the technician is working at, there are three reset buttons to select from, allowing for quicker restarts and less downtime.

Compared to its predecessor, the MXC-E3.2RE, this model is also 20 per cent more energy efficient following the addition of several new features. These include the dimpling cylinder, the E-Needles and the Monarch/Fukuhara airflow system.

The latter is a built in system which blows air into the cylinder area of the machine so essentially it is directed straight at key sections such as the cam races and the needles. The result is that all the lint is being blown out as the machine runs, keeping it cleaner and enabling it to run at higher speeds for longer.

"The airflow system is optional," explains Mr Brunton, "but with it included, the machine runs at about 35 to 40 degrees, compared to around 70 degrees without. If the machine is running cooler, the needles are longer lasting, the elements are longer lasting, and the machine is more efficient as it requires less cleaning and downtime."

The is available in a number of different diameters ranging from 26 ins to 42 ins and in gauges 14G - to a fine 40G.
