Albstadt - Groz-Beckert is at ShanghaiTex this week with a range innovative needles for special applications including the SAN SF needle for large diameter circular knitting machines, the SAN TT needle for the flat knitting sector and the dur needle for use in sock machines.

Visitors to Hall W5, Booth B40, at the new Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Shanghai, China, will also discover the latest Groz-Beckert product and service innovations from a completely new perspective thanks to Augmented Reality.

The SAN SF, the company's new special application needle for use with large diameter circular knitting machines. These needle types are specially developed for knitting staple fibre yarns and have a geometry which is designed with a closed needle shank on the bottom and a supporting humps for the cylinder walls. It is a combination that is said to effectively prevent fibre residues and yarn abrasion from collecting.

The result is that less contamination means longer periods without having to remove the needles to clean the machine. In practice, the cleansing cycles were extended by up to a factor of 3 on average. Use of the SAN staple fibre needle also significantly reduces both the maintenance requirements and the frequency of faults in goods due to contamination-related vertical lines.

For the sock knitting sector, the new dur needles make use of a new base material combined with a patented manufacturing process offering higher wear resistance and improved corrosion resistance.
