Munich – Next month’s Performance Days exhibition will feature a new event designed to help outdoor clothing and textile designers assess the impact of different raw materials and to help them source less harmful alternatives.
The Performance Days ‘Day 0’ conference will take place on 4th March, the day before the main show opens, and will feature workshops in an interactive, hands-on setting. Round-table seating will encourage networking and discussion, with each table guided by an expert facilitator.
Mark Shayler, who delivered the sustainability keynote at the recent European Outdoor Summit, will lead the conference whilst other speakers will include Arne Strate, ex-general secretary of the European Outdoor Group, who will give insight to the importance of environmental, social and governance in board rooms.
Other panels will explore the work of non-governmental organisations, textile standards, and the retail sector, whilst there will also be a Q&A session.
Also present will be representatives from BSI, the Textile Exchange, GreenRoomVoice, Ohana Public Affairs, Fair Wear, Hohenstein, The MicroFibre Consortium, Bluesign, Worldly, Higg, TSE, Picture Organic, Rab, Intersport, and The North Face.
“Throughout the day, participants will be encouraged to engage in thought-provoking presentations, and explore fresh ideas to ensure their efforts toward responsibility are focused on what truly matters,” Performance Days’s organisers said in a statement.
“At the end, participants will leave equipped with actionable knowledge to implement immediately on day one of the fair.”
The conference takes place in a meeting room close to the fair halls at Messe München with a ticket including access to the conference with breakfast and lunch, a participation certificate, and entry to both fair days.
“Designers are known for mixing it up (rather than just sitting down for a day of presentations) so the day has been created around conversations and especially questions from the audience on issues that they have,” organisers added.
“This is not a day of listening to presentations – this is a day of conversation with your peers, asking questions of specialists, and investigating what aspects you can take back to your own brands.”
With a limit to just 100 places, entry will be restricted to those that have booked tickets.
