PERFORMANCE DAYS is the one platform for functional fabrics and accessories where the latest trends and innovations in the outdoor, winter sports, workwear, bike & running, fitness, and lifestyle industry are shown. The aim of the semi-annual trade fair is to bring together designers, product- and material managers with leading textile manufacturers, suppliers and service providers to explore the latest developments in fabrics, membranes plus treatments, laminates, paddings, finishes, and accessories such as yarns, tapes, prints, buttons and zippers.

The upcoming PERFORMANCE DAYS functional fabric fair on April 22-23rd 2020 will once again showcase around 300 well know suppliers such as Polartec, Primaloft, ISKO, YKK, Singtex, Pertex, 3M Thinsulate, Stotz, Flocus, Kingwhale, Seaqual, Südwolle, Drirelease, Pontetorto, Hemp Fortex as well as newcomers like Fuze/Coolcare, Zeynar, NGS Malhas, Memteks, Lorenzi, Syn&Tek, Fidlock, Xlance, BYR/Solucell and Seojin Textile.

In partnership with Reed Exhibitions, the trade fair also takes place twice a year in the US in New York and Portland, Oregon as the Functional Fabric Fair powered by PERFORMANCE DAYS® to provide an opportune sourcing platform for performance materials in parallel with the event in Munich. The following dates are to save for 2020:

MUNICH           April 22-23
NEW YORK     July 20-21
MUNICH           October 28-29
PORTLAND      November 18-19

All of the shows are enhanced up with a complimentary educational program of Expert Talks, Workshops and Guided Tours by internationally recognized speakers. All of the Expert Talks are available online on the website in the 24/7 SOURCING area as a podcast to listen to.

PERFORMANCE DAYS' CLEAR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY

Visitors to the 24/7 SOURCING section will also find the entire digitalized PERFORMANCE FORUM which is the fair's on-site trend area containing supplier’s 240 hand-selected best fabrics plus accessories. A key aspect of the PERFORMANCE FORUM is that all materials shown in here MUST BE sustainable as the fair’s organizer have decided that there cannot be innovation without sustainability anymore.

The (ECO) PERFORMANCE AWARD is showcased in this trend area, too – if there is an award. As the jury is completely independent, sometimes no product is highlighted for its outstanding properties - a process which underlines the fair’s focus on real innovative and sustainable developments.

Each fair also has a so-called Focus Topic, which at the April edition is “INSPIRED BY NATURE – FROM FIBERS TO GREEN TREATMENTS”. This means products with functions via a natural and environmentally friendly approach are highlighted. Fabrics are be presented that offer functions such as climate and temperature management, moisture transport, water repellency or waterproofing, UV-protection, and odor control based on natural processes. These innovations underscore the idea that the best functions can be achieved without harmful chemicals. A few years ago, functional fabrics came under criticism because, among other things, the waterproofing treatments were manufactured on the basis of harmful chemicals. And, although the industry has mastered this challenge, there are still a number of other areas that can do without chemicals or synthetic fibers made from crude oil.
