New York - Stoll has signed a deal with apparel manufacturing group Project I for the installation of 300 of the latest flat knitting machines in a brand new US-based knitwear facility.
Announcing the deal at today's Stoll Symposium here in New York, Stephan Robertson, CEO North American Operations, said the landmark partnership with Project I marked a major step in bringing large-scale, high-end knitwear production back to the US.
At this stage the precise location of the Project I facility has not been revealed. Under the terms of the agreement, the regional government involved in the project and the group's private investors will make the announcement locally before full details of the knitting plant are revealed.
What is known at this stage though is that Stoll America will supply 300 of its latest generation machines over the next three years including models from the ADF range, which feature yarn carriers that are independent of the carriage and can move horizontally and vertically, and the latest knit & wear machines. Stoll will also provide training, programming and on-site production support.
"The US knitwear sector cannot continue to rely on outside entities," Robertson said. "With Project I, this deal will help bring a much needed, 'just in time', competitive edge back to the North American market. We are finally able to make the US a destination for advanced knitwear manufacturing and production again.”
The facility is expected to operation in 2019.
