Botticino - The ability to knit a wide variety of items on its knitting machines, from scarves and masks to legwarmers and elbow caps, has been further inspired by Busi Giovanni's work with paralympic athlete Mauro Scarpari.

As Paola Claudia Baldracchi, Busi's commercial & marketing director explained, over the last few difficult months during which almost all countries worldwide have been hit by Covid 19 and lots of businesses have been jeopardized, Busi has kept such a bad situation as a good opportunity to reorganize their production plant and premises.

"Furthermore our team of truly smart employees, engineers and technicians did their utmost to find something out for Busi machines’ optimization," Ms Baldracchi said. "Actually our main question in occasion of our remote brainstorming sessions was 'How can BUSI machines be used differently? Can they make other products in addition to the several types of (beautiful) socks?'

"The result was a very useful and moving session with Mauro Scarpari - an Italian paralympic athlete, who rides his handbike in the Italian official team of able-bodied riders and is the only one among them being committed to the collective issue #vivalavita (i.e. Cheers to life!) of social inclusion in the sports world. This was the occasion to revive our soul and to give our mind a new lease of life from the darkness of Corona virus.

"We were taught that negative life experiences as his – he had a bad accident during an off-road motocross race which confined him to a wheelchair – can bring 'golden chances out we’d never get. Thus, our uproarious answer to the above query was a great 'Yes, they can!'."

In addition to high quality socks and hosiery, Busi's single cylinder knitting machines can be efficiently used to make a number of different products such as protective masks, mittens scarves, hoods, ties, wrist cuffs, sleeves, knee pads, elbow caps and leg warmers.

The hosiery knitting machine manufacturer has been particularly busy in the last 12 months. Most notably, it as has completed its range of medical hosiery machines with the addition of the 5 ins diameter model, adding to the existing 4 and 4 ½ diameter models on both the Busi Medical and the Busi Medical Terry. Its popular J-Terry model is from now on available in diameter 4 ½ inches and a needle range from 80 to 240.

Busi has also developed the advanced Busi Control Tower, a web-based application that allows to monitor and control its machines in real-time, 24/7, while collecting and analysing performance data. Busi machines’ users may therefore answer critical issues related to productivity.

Busi is also sponsoring an innovative, automatic yarn weighing system which is able to measure real consumption and warn in case of possible malfunctions. The system will help hosiery manufacturers finally get reliable data about sampling costs and avoid onerous defects and downtime in production.

Last but not least Busi has also recently developed on-demand services targeted especially to start-ups or for reorganisation / rationalisation of existing hosiery mills.

“Turn key project” is a customized service aimed at creating a framework for assisting start-up companies in building a sock mill from scratch. The project includes mandatory milestones such as complete feasibility study, business plan, plant organisation along with market analysis where appropriate.

Finally Busi also provides the support of a skilled and experienced Fashion Designer to help its customers with designing attractive customized hosiery collections for their brands.
