Global cotton prices have spiked by as much as 61% in the past year with traders and mills stepping up their buying amid the fear of falling inventories. Weather-related shortages in China and Pakistan and a curb on Indian exports have also added to the supply constraints creating a ripple of adverse effects through the global textile and clothing supply chain.
