Wakayama - Marking its 50th anniversary, 2012 proved to be an eventful year for flat knitting machine builder Shima Seiki with a series of initiatives, events and new launches aimed at stimulating interest in WholeGarment knitting technology.

Significant milestones included the construction of a new factory for WholeGarment machine assembly, the introduction of five new machines, as well as five new variations on existing machines, the launch of WholeGarment knitwear brands in the U.S. and Japan, induction into the American Textile Hall of Fame, the launch of a subsidiary company for production and retail sales of WholeGarment knitwear and the sponsorship of a new advanced textiles research laboratory.
